Ep. 007 Healing Your Beliefs Around Your Body Image
In this episode were going to talk about Body Image! I work with a lot of fitness competitors, former competitors, and women who have spent their entire lifetime dieting. This is my zone of genius. One of the biggest requests is to help them lose weight after competition.
When I ask them WHAT their biggest struggle is post competition or after they've gained back a lot of the weight they initially lost, it’s to help with losing weight again! But what happens is every time they go to clean up their diet or get consistent self sabotage creeps back in. the actual problem is not the body weight, but what they think about their body weight.
So often their beliefs are tied to what they believe their weight loss will mean for their life. They believe that at a smaller weight, they will be able to accomplish bigger and better things. Your thoughts become your beliefs. Maybe you’ve been telling yourself the same thing over and over again and they’re not serving you if they’re negative. Beliefs are something I work on A LOT with my clients and in my programs.
I ask you to take out your journal and take some notes on my 3 step process to heal those inner wounds. I use the acronym ART to explain my 3 steps. A is for acknowledging your feelings. You have to acknowledge how you’re really feeling and impact it’s currently having. I offer up some great examples of this within the episode. Reframe what you’re doing and allow yourself to look at it with a different mindset. How can you look at your situation differently? The last step is to Tell a new story. Even if you don’t believe it at the beginning, you have to be willing to change the narrative.
Ultimately, you want to get to a point where your weight doesn’t matter and you have the freedom to live the life you want. This is a solid episode with tips to start the change you’d like to see in yourself. You are the creator of your reality.
