Ep. 006 If My Mindset Sucks Will I Not Lose Weight?

This episode comes from a listener question, her specific question was: If you go into a diet and your mind’s playing tricks even on a calorie deficit, will you not lose? To rephrase that question just a bit what I believe she's asking is, she's on a diet intentionally trying to lose weight, but she's mentally not registering that she's making progress. She wants to know if having a bad mindset will affect her weight loss goals. 

This is a common feeling; a common question I get from my clients. Even if they don’t say it, so many of us have thought it. In this episode, we cover the importance of your mindset and how that affects your goals. Bottom line is this- what you believe you will achieve. It comes down to whether or not you’re really going to be successful or not.

If you are having self critical and self doubting thoughts, you actions will eventually mimic our feelings. If you don’t have positive thoughts about what you’re doing, it won’t be sustainable and is a self fulfilling prophecy.

I go over how my coaching style comes into play with all of this. We set goals and we focus on how we feel about ourselves. If you are focusing on scale weight and external factors, you are  alone setting yourself back. What you should be focusing on are your internal systems and feedback you’re giving yourself on the inside. 

There is a huge difference between being in competition prep and is not sustainable. This is your life. Focus on those things that will outlast the pre and post competition highs/ goals. Who do you need to become? Live your lifestyle for the person you want to become. Come check out the episode!
