The Confidence Formula

Your confidence has always been there, it's just been covered up by all the false stories and wounds from our past. Unlearning who we aren’t, to make room for who we are, creates confidence.

Why we need to practice unlearning

Unlearning is the process through which we break down the origins of our thoughts, attitudes, behaviors, feelings, and biases. It's asking ourselves:

  • Where do these beliefs come from?

  • Do these support my mental health?

  • Is this in alignment with the life I want?

  • Is this congruent with my authenticity and the person I am? The person I want to become?

  • Do I believe this to be true to myself?

This deep work is not easy, and it requires us to get really honest with ourselves. It requires stripping away everything we thought we should be, and making room for what is. Through this process you will have an opportunity to keep what you like  and let the rest go. So let's take this time to unlearn how the beliefs about our confidence that no longer serve us.

What Confidence Means

Breaking down what confidence means:

  • Confidence: the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.

  • Self Confidence: a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgment.

The 6 ingredients to the confidence formula

The confidence formula is:

( Authenticity + Vulnerability + Self Love - guilt and toxicity ) x Self Esteem

Over the next few weeks I'll be breaking down each of these a little bit more so you can take inventory of your life and see what needs some extra attention from you so you CAN become confident in yourself. Let’s start with self esteem because as you can see from the formula, if that's at a 0 it will literally zero out your whole sum. Our goal is to get your self esteem to infinity! When you're at infinity, you're in a constant state of growth, there is no final destination. It's a journey you've decided to step into for life.

The way I teach Self Esteem inside of my signature life coaching program (Mindset Makeover Academy) is that it's comprised of 3 things:

Your self belief, self trust and self worth.

With this, I'm going to focus on self trust because I have talked plenty about self belief and self worth before!

How to build self-trust within your mind, body and heart

Building self trust, starts with trust with your mind. This looks like keeping promises to yourself. Honestly, start small. Smaller promises are easier to keep than bigger promises. The smaller the better.

The next step is building trust with your body.  You have to trust that your body knows how to nourish itself and so it’s important that we start saying no more to dieting. Listen to what your body is asking for, resting when you need it and exercising when you need it.

The final piece is building trust with your heart. It’s so important to be honoring your authenticity and speaking your truth. You need to allow yourself to follow your heart.
