Life After Macros with Paige

This week’s episode is a coaching session. If you listened to last week’s episode, you heard me mention that a woman had DM’d me concerned about letting go of macros and so this week we are talking with her. When she sent me the DM two weeks ago, she did decide to drop her macros, and so this episode we dive into what that has done for her thus far.

Paige’s story

She starts by telling us about her story. Paige has always been an athletic person and pushes herself to the next level. She does share with us about a tragic event that pushed her into her troubled eating habits. The weight gain led to training for a bikini competition.

Her Training Life

Paige dives into what life was like during her time while she was training for her bikini competition. It was a rough road and she was anxious and tracking every little thing. Sound familiar?

Our Coaching Session

Before our session, I had chatted with Paige about what she wanted to focus on for her coaching. She said she needed some help with the down days- you know the ones were you feel super snack-y. She said she needs to stay away from mirrors and just focus on when she was feeling better about her body image.

Where the Trauma Comes From

We dive into the trauma of the loss of her mom. After asking her what she did when she was grieving, she said she trained for an Ironman and made herself so tired. After chatting for a while, it became apparent that a lot of her insecurities came from and what pushed her into her negative relationship with food.

Feminine vs. Masculine Energy

Part of our training is all about the need to continue to push ourselves to be “better” and honestly, we also need to spend some time just being. Feminine energy allows us to take a minute and pause. Our self improvement is a connection with a higher power and when connecting with that, we become better.

Paige’s Journey of Letting Go of Her Macros

She has been off tracking macros for 2 weeks. It has been such a freeing experience and she now feels like she will never go back. She mentions that she has dabbled in quitting macros in the past and said she could always go back, but this time she has no desire to go back.

Tool to check in with yourself about your hunger levels

  • Set 3 alarms throughout the day

  • With each alarm, ask yourself these questions:

    • How’s my hunger?

    • How are my cravings?

    • How’s my energy? (how am I feeling?)

  • You only really have to do this for a week and you’ll become more intuitive
