How To Measure Your Success

How you measure your success ultimately determines your level of happiness. If you chase external success and always measure yourself against things that don't really matter--get ready to always be disappointed in yourself and quit when the going gets tough. In this episode, I'm going to teach you how to measure success in your life and business!

What Does Success Mean for You?

Let’s take this opportunity right now to redefine success. Here are 3 questions that I highly encourage you to journal on in order to begin understanding what success really means to you:

  • Is your success aligned with your core values?

  • Who are you trying to be successful for?

  • What do you want success to feel like?

When it comes to redefining your success, it’s important to remember that it’s not about what we have and more about who we become. These questions are curated for you to look inward and be really honest with yourself. We can have the best strategy in the world but if we don’t believe in ourselves, then we are not going to take the actions that are needed.

The Role Your Emotions and Feelings Play in Your Success

Diving deeper into the third question of redefining success: What do you want success to feel like? Oftentimes, this question leads one to think, “Well, I don’t want to feel…” -- Not wanting to feel a certain way puts your mind in the negative. Simply shifting our language to something more positive can impact the energetic frequencies that are responsible for the vibe we are in. Get comfortable with moving toward what you want instead of running away from what you don’t want.

How To Choose Key Markers of Progress for Yourself

It’s important for us to measure if we are improving! If you aren’t tracking your progress, you won’t know if you’re getting better. The markers I use to measure my progress are as follows:

  • I create 3 big goals for the entire year. I then breakdown those 3 goals to quarterly goals. I review the previous quarter and prepare for the next one.

  • Within the quarter, I create 3 goals around something personal, financial, and professional. These three goals tie back to my yearly goal.

  • I then take my quarterly goals and chunk them with my monthly goals and my monthly goals get chunked down with my weekly goals through CEO Sunday. (My non-negotiable ritual for success!)

NOTE: *All of my goals are in alignment with my 3 big yearly goals*

If you find yourself feeling stagnant around your goals, it’s important to be real with yourself. Stagnation has the potential to show up as self sabotage. While working on creating this system, do the work to figure out what limiting belief is holding you back. Easier said than done, but it’s about raising your awareness. Be responsible for who you are being as that is where you will find more success.

The One Thing That Will Completely Solve Your Success Struggles: STOP COMPARING YOURSELF

Listen, if you measure yourself based on other people’s opinions, you’re always going to be left disappointed. When we try to be successful for others, we’re never going to feel successful. Get obsessed with your own life and stay in your own lane! It’s not worth it to compare yourself to other people. Sure, I’ve heard people say that their motivation is fueled by comparing themselves to other people. If you are one of those people, I implore you to reflect: Are you motivated by fear or love? Do you fear that you’re falling behind? Do you have this fear of missing out?

Your success is your own. You will have more success and happiness when you do it YOUR way. The quicker you get out of the mindset of comparing, the faster you will get to your own version of your success.
