How To Live a More Intentional Life

This week we’re diving into the archives! This episode received a lot of downloads, good engagement, and feedback that I thought it would be fitting to discuss a non-negotiable I incorporate into my coaching container: Core Values. To all my new and loyal listeners, you’re in for a treat!

What Are Core Values

Core values are a set of virtues you decide to live your life by, sort of like a moral compass. In life, core values can change and evolve--just like you! With that being said, you are allowed to let go of core values that are not in alignment with who you are now. For example, one of my core values used to be excellence. With that being something I strived to be in alignment with, I realized how much harder it was for me to uphold this value because I created this unnecessary pressure of wanting to be better than my previous self. Knowing what your core values are helps shift the view of your goals as more of a journey rather than a destination or outcome. If you want more energy and passion to open up more for you in your life, get familiar with what your core values are.

How to Define Your Core Values

Core values are defined by what’s important to you and the qualities that make you live your best life. My core values are:

  • Kindness

  • Honesty/Integrity

  • Always be learning

  • Purpose

  • Authenticity--being the fullest expression of myself

When I and my business are in alignment with these values, I am my best self. I am my highest self. When you articulate your values, you have a better sense of who you are & what you stand for. This can help guide you in making decisions in your life as well as be the fuel for the energy & passion in life. When you know what your values are you have more energy and passion to achieve the goals you want because you realize why these goals are important to you.

How to Integrate Them Into Your Life For Intentional Living

When you attach your value with your goal there is a deeper well for passion and energy in your life. What you do, what you say, and how you help others is all encompassed if you are in alignment with your core values. Also, values are values until you put action; then they become your virtues. An easy way to integrate your values into your life for intentional living is asking yourself: how can I be more ___ today? Taking a look at my core values, I often ask myself: How can I be more kind today? How can I be more honest today? How can I learn more today? How can I be more purposeful today? How can I be more authentic today? -- There is always room for improvement around this which is why I love core values so much. Knowing what your core values are will propel you toward your future.
